60 years ago today, the first ever nuclear bomb was set off. not that much later we murdered an estimated 360,000 japanese in hiroshima and nagasaki.

some make the argument that the bombs also saved lives because they pretty much ended the war and the fighting. i'm sure there is some truth to that. but killing civilians by the hundreds of thousands can't be the answer. ever!

when i was a teenager in the 80s most people, at least in europe, were convinced that one day either the americans or the soviets woul 'loose it' and fire their missles, destroying the planet. thank 'god' that didn't happen.

of course now the danger is that america keeps pissing the rest of the world off until some country gets a hold of a few nukes and sends them over. maybe in the name of allah, or jesus, or moses, or ronald mc. donald.

it's amazing that the bush regime just asked congress for ungodly amounts of taxpayer cash to develop new nuclear weapons. maybe the ability to blow up the whole fucking planet 200 times over is not enough. i guess arms industry ceo's need to eat, too.

that does it for my daily dose of anger... :)
